SQL Database Analyst/Administrator

 

POSITION TITLE: SQL Database Analyst/Administrator

STATUS: Full Time (Exempt)

JOB FUNCTION: Performs database management and administration duties essential to the production and development of relational database management systems (RDBMS) applications. This includes extensive ad-hoc querying, data import/export, database maintenance, performance tuning, data loads, database design, and database development. Other technical aspects include advanced SQL, stored procedures, DTS/SSIS packages and replication.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for planning, implementation and continued development of multiple DBA projects utilizing various versions of SQL Server;
  • Designs, implements and maintains complex functions of database systems including stored procedures, transformation services, and triggers
  • Evaluates project plans and works with project team to determine methods and procedures to be used on new assignments;
  • Develops remote monitoring scripts and reporting procedures to improve the level of service;
  • Designs, installs, and maintains complex database systems including data modeling, access, allocations, validity checks, security, performance, and documentation;
  • Database analysis, security support, design, and performance monitoring and tuning;
  • Understands OS architecture and interactions with database and applications;
  • Monitors overall database standards and procedures;
  • Leads the designs, development and implementation of database backup, maintenance and recovery procedures to insure reliability;
  • Creates complex data movement jobs in the environment that addresses auditing, restart and recovery and error handling;
  • Implements physical database changes and performs impact analysis on potential changes;
  • Installs and tests database server upgrades or patches;
  • Accountable for overall service level.

 

CAPABILITIES/ATTRIBUTES:

  • Solid MS SQL Server 2000/2005 experience
  • Knowledge of TSQL, and Object-Oriented development
  • Proficient with Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Ability to code stored procedures
  • Understanding of complex and advanced database concepts
  • Familiarity with database modeling tools such as Erwin or ERstudio
  • Knowledge and understanding of all database connectivity configuration options both on the Database server and the client that is connecting
  • Thorough understanding of MS SQL internal structure and processing such as detailed
    knowledge memory structures
  • Considers business aspects of problems, and recognizes opportunities for expanding business services
  • Must be proactive and preventive in problem solving

EDUCATION PROFILE:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Computer Science or Information Technology)

EXPERIENCE PROFILE:
Minimum of 3 years of DBA experience including mastery of SQL Server
